Type 2 Kitchen Hoods

Type 2 kitchen hoods help create a comfortable environment for people working in commercial kitchens by capturing and exhausting heat, condensate, and steam. Type 2 hoods, also called condensate hoods, are only for use over non-grease producing appliances such as dishwashers, soup stations, and some types of pizza ovens. Another benefit of using Type II hoods is that they help remove odors.

Instead of having grease filters, Type 2 kitchen hoods feature a duct collar that helps exhaust the hot, moist air. They are exhaust only. Our condensate hoods are constructed of durable stainless steel for lasting performance and high resistance to rust and corrosion. They come standard with a perimeter gutter and have an available perforated supply plenum.

Type II hoods are required to be installed over cooking appliances and dishwashers that produce heat and/or steam. They are not generally required, but can be very helpful, over rice cookers, steam tables, hot dog cookers, warming ovens, and convection ovens. In addition to over dishwashers, it is very common for Type 2 hoods to be installed over deck pizza ovens. All Type II hoods that we carry are both ETL Listed and NSF Certified.

In order to properly work, Type II hoods require an centrifugal upblast exhaust fan to draw the air up into the system. The extracted air is pulled through the ductwork to the outside. Sometimes, a commercial makeup air fan will be installed as part of the overall restaurant ventilation system. The makeup air unit will bring in fresh air from the outside to replace the air that is exhausted.

The demanding environment of a commercial kitchen requires an effective kitchen ventilation system to keep it comfortable and safe. Therefore, it is critical that you keep your Type 2 hood in good working order. Establish a routine maintenance and cleaning schedule for your Type 2 kitchen hood. It will help keep it running smoothly and able to handle the needs of a busy kitchen.

Type 2 hoods are an integral part of your interior ventilation exhaust system. HoodFilters.com offers a wide range of sizes for commercial kitchens, restaurants, food trucks, and concession trailers. Our durable ventilation hoods will easily handle the demands of the busiest kitchens keeping them comfortable for both staff and patrons.

If you need to remove heat, moisture, or odors from your kitchen and are looking for a commercial vent hood to use over a non-grease or oil vapor producing cooking appliance, then Type II hoods are the right choice for you.
